The Portal of St. Peter. The Portal of St. Peter is the only portal of twelve from the Cathedral which was at least partially completed during the Middle Ages. Using it as a model, the other nineteenth-century portals received their design. Between 1370-1380 members of the famous Parler Family (sculptors and architects), created the figural work. On either side of the bronze portal doors stand large jamb sculptures of apostles, of which five are still original: to the north (left, from the inside to the outside) Peter, Andrew and Jacob; to the south (right) Paul and John. Due to their poor condition the original statues had to be removed and be replaced by copies made of cast stone in 1972-1980.
