Who can resist Gassendi? When Gassendi is right on the terminator, its southern wall stays dark much longer than the rest of its walls, making it obvious how that side of the crater has sunk along with the mare it borders. Jane uses Faber-Castell graphites, Deirdre uses Conte Crayons.

Gassendi sketched by Deirdre Kelleghan.June 7th 2006 22:00 UT – 22:40 UT Reeves Sketching pencils B 2B 4B plus a little grey Conte Crayon. Bray, Co Wicklow Ireland. 200mm Reflector/F6/25mm Super Wide Angle Kellner plus Meade 3X Telenegitive Barlow/144X Lunation 11.67 days. Seeing 3, 17C, Transparency Average I just could not put my hands on my 10mm eyepiece so got out my 25mm wide angle Kellner and hitched it up to my Meade 3x Barlow. What a great view of the Moon and Gassendi in particular. I made this drawing, wonderful detail available, I had a go at capturing it, and I also tried to render the rough area between Gassendi and the terminator. More moon sketches start here.
