10/12/02 - whole disk sketch. This was my first observing day and I was thrilled to see so many active regions on the sun. AR0149 is the large DSI in the NE section D=bipolar group with penumbra on spots at both ends of the group, less than 10 degrees in length, S= with a symmetric spot which has a mature dark filamentary penumbra with a clean border. I= Intermediate distribution where numerous umbral spots lie between leader and follower spots. I counted 12 spots in this group.
