Jupiter at 01:25 PST 09:25 UT 02/10/03

Sketched at the eyepiece. North is up. Preceeding limb is to the left and following limb is to the right. 180mm f/9 refractor, 16 mm orthoscopic eyepieces through binoviewer, and 3x (total) barlow. Magnification 300x.

The seeing has improved in the past hour. Note the three "dashes" along the southern edge of the North Polar Region. These dashes are really red barges. Directly south of the barges are similar but larger features on the northern edge of the North Equatorial Belt. A split in the SEB, South Equatorial Belt preceeds the red spot hollow. And south of the red spot hollow part of the South Tropical Belt is prominent, looking like a underscore bringing more attention to the coming Great Red Spot.
