10/19/02 - A closeup of AR0162 reveals the "Wilson Effect", a required observation for the AL Sunspotter observing program. The umbra, which is the central darkest part of a sunspot, seems to be displaced towards the center of the sun when viewed optically. This is possibly due to the umbra being at a slightly lower level than the general solar surface, which makes it look like a depression.
